Its been a good week or more since I've actually had a chance to sit down and do some blogging. The reason for this is that a lot has happened in the last week. I'm reminded of a scene in Princess Bride (which is one of my all-time favorite movies) in which Prince Humperdink is talking about planning his wife's murder and lists off a long "to-do list" first. You'd have to know the movie well to remember the scene I am referring to....
First we celebrated Steven's 35th birthday with an open house at our home last Sunday. We had a great turnout and a lot of fun! My parents came in to town for the event and also stayed to babysit Ben through Tuesday. We took a video at the party, I will try to upload it later.
Tuesday I resigned from my position as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) at my job of 3 years at Midwest Midwifery. It was an extremely difficult decision, as I love being a midwife. However, the hours, although part-time, were too much for me as a new mother. After MUCH prayer, seeking counsel, and consideration, I came to realize that for now, I need to work a job that will allow me to "punch a clock," so to speak. I will continue to work at Midwest until the end of April. So, right now, I am considering other options of work. In the meantime, I am trying to learn to cut corners in our spending. I just purchased a book about going from two incomes to one, it has many great tips on saving money (if only I could find the time to read it!). After a great birth at work this past weekend, I am mourning my decision somewhat, but I know that it is right for me, right now. I know that I can always go back to it in the future. I may seek a job just seeing patients in the clinic setting.
We just purchased a new digital camera with some gift money we received for our anniversary. We can now take better videos (with sound!) and photos with a much quicker shutter speed. It just arrived today and we are so excited to use it! Thank you to both sets of parents!
Today Benjamin turned 9 months old. I will post a more detailed entry about him tomorrow. For his birthday present, he got his first non-shot related fever. I noticed it today at playgroup after noticing that he felt warm. Surprisingly, he seems to be happier than usual, not phased at all. Hopefully, its nothing.
