We just returned from a great vacation out east to visit family, go to Cape Cod, and attend a wedding of a friend. We had a great time and got to rest a bit, which was wonderful! Cape Cod is beautiful at this time of year and we had a couple friends visit, which was so nice, too. We love sharing the magic of "the Cape"with others as it is such a special place to us. Here are a few of the highlights of our trip:

  • Ben became completely potty trained! What a relief...for all of us. We're so proud of him!
  • Abigail began walking at Steven's sisters house, just after her 14 month mark. She has also been doing much more sign language, which makes it so much easier to communicate.
  • The kids played with cousins and loved it! Ben especially loved playing with Zachary (6 years older than Ben) and was attached at the hip to him during our visit.
  • My dear friend Pam visited for 3 days at the Cape, which was great. She loved Brewster Magic and getting some time on the beach.
  • Our friends Irene and Ken came for 3 days also, Ken left after one night to drive back home, Irene continued on with us to New Hampshire to attend a Wheaton friends' wedding. It was great to have them!
  • We had 2 bonfires on the beach with s'mores...Ben loved it. We were in awe of the magnitude of the stars on the beach. In Chicago we usually see about 5 stars total...it was a treasure to marvel at the vastness of the skies.
  • Irene and I got to test out the kayak at sunset. We stayed close to shore and didn't get very far as the tide was going out and it was too shallow. It was breathtakingly beautiful!

All in all, a great trip. We're glad to be home and getting settled in to a bit of a routine as we all sleep better at home. We can't believe how much it feels like fall already....
